Where will my Bowen session take place?

Your Bowen session will take place in a warm, comfortable, quiet room. Soft music may be played to help you relax. You will lie on a table especially designed for your comfort.

Will I be completely undressed?

No, Bowenwork is done over clothing.

What will the Bowenwork feel like?  

Bowen moves are very gentle moves and there is no pain involved.

What should I do during my Bowen session?  

Prior to the Bowen session, feel free to ask the practitioner any questions about the technique or the upcoming session. During the session, make yourself comfortable. The practitioner will either gently move you or tell you what is needed throughout the session (such as lifting your arm). Many people just close their eyes and completely relax, communicating if they are uncomfortable or require another blanket, or anything else relevant to the session. If you have any questions regarding the session or about the particular technique you are receiving, feel free to ask.  Between each set of Bowen moves there is a  2-3 minute break in between the moves to allow the client's body to begin responding.  

What should I wear to a Bowen session?

Wear clothing that is loose fitting and comfortable.  A pair of baggy shorts and loose fitting tshirt are great.

Will I be covered during the session?
You will be properly draped at all times to keep you warm and comfortable. 

How will I feel after the Bowen session?
Most people feel very relaxed. Some experience freedom from long-term aches and pains developed from tension or repetitive activity. People often experience increased energy, a feeling of being balanced and less stressed.

What are the benefits of Bowen?
The technique has the ability to improve function in a gentle but profound way.  It provides deep relaxation.  The technique has provided relief from problems such as back pain; digestive and bowel problems; migraines; mental/emotional stress; fibromyalgia; chronic fatigue syndrome; knee/ankle and foot problems; neck/shoulder problems; carpal tunnel syndrome; any condition where pain or in-balance exists; overall body balancing; relaxation.   Bowen Therapy is also known to promote better sleep, improve concentration, reduce anxiety and create an overall sense of well-being.

Bowen is a complementary therapy and does not replace other required procedures or therapies.
